Paralegal II-Labor
Department of Law
Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Salary: $57,852.00

Under the supervision of a Supervising Paralegal and Deputy Corporation Counsel, provides paraprofessional legal administrative support to attorneys, and performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Provides paralegal support for the attorneys in the Division
• Assists attorneys in all functions including those ranging from routine to complex in nature;
• Files motions with the Court;
• Responds to subpoenas;
• Indexes, requests documents and prepares/coordinates with attorneys on discovery;
• Organizes and reviews documents for privilege and personal information;
• Prepares indices of withheld documents;
• Manages and updates the preservation database;
• Troubleshoots issues arising with subpoenas;
• Uses and maintains the Preservation Database to manage legal holds on electronic records;
• Performs light administrative duties (phone, database updates and mailings) on a daily basis;
• Works extensively with Excel and other Microsoft programs;
• Communicates with client departments, outside agencies and information requesters.

Days: Monday-Friday
Hours: 9am-5pm

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience
• Five (5) years of work experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, OR
• Paralegal Certificate obtained from a training institution accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA), PLUS one (1) one year of work experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree, PLUS two (2) years of work experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, PLUS, a paralegal certificate from a paralegal training program accredited by the American Bar Association, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's or Master's degree, PLUS one (1) year of work experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, OR
• Juris Doctorate (JD) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA)
