Thrive Pet Healthcare is hiring a Paralegal!Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for working under the direction of Associate General Counsel - Labor, Employment and Data Privacy (“Supervising Attorney” or “SA”) to assist with full life-cycle management of the company’s employment contracts, as well as preparation of simple severance and separation agreements, independent contractor agreements and contractual repayment obligation enforcement.
Responsibilities:
Leading with Your Head
Understanding business, solving problems, and making decisions through inclusive contributions of others
- Assist in the development of legal document forms and templates
- Assist with full life-cycle management of employment agreements, including drafting agreements, amendments and related documents, maintaining data and contract repository
- Work closely with Thrive’s recruiting team to provide contract negotiations support
- Lead the separation agreement workflow, including working closely with payroll and other departments to facilitate timely payments
- Lead the contractual repayment obligation workflow, preparing reminder and demand letters and coordinating with Employment Counsel to prepare matters for litigation as necessary
- Assist with preparation of employment agreement trainings and participation in recruiter meetings and FAQs
- Facilitate settlement agreements within parameters established by SA
- Assist with the development of legal department processes, policies and procedures
- Perform legal research and assist with other Legal Department projects and initiatives as needed
- Identify for escalation and escalate matters and issues to SA, as appropriate

- Work respectfully with recruiting and operational staff to gather necessary information to prepare contracts and support negotiations

- Support, coordinate and collaborate with team members at different levels and in different functions throughout the Company to facilitate successful completion of employment agreements
- Coordinate with paralegals Department-wide to cross-train and provide coverage outside of normal areas of responsibility as needed
- Work efficiently and collaboratively with other department paralegals supporting and cross-trained on Contracts Paralegal workflows
- Perform tasks with a spirit of continuous improvement and address challenges with a problem-solving approach
- Aptitude for learning about the Company’s business functions and the veterinary industry to better understand and support the organization
Key Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a field that develops the skills required for the functions and responsibilities of the position
- Completion of
- an approved paralegal program or
- a minimum of one year of legal experience and demonstration of a high aptitude for learning
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to handle private, sensitive, and confidential information appropriately, acting with integrity and discretion
- Possess excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Ability to complete project-based work independently
